Room4art.com™ is one of the trading names of 21st Century Gallery Ltd. a Company registered in England under company registration number 5852164 and VAT registration number 893 9529 57, and member of The Fine Art Trade Guild No 6075.

John Stocks has been running the 21st Century Gallery business as an art dealer for many years. Realising that maintaining Gallery premises (as he did for the last 10 of those years in Bungay in Suffolk, while serving galleries and private clients nationwide in the UK) was not the way of the future, (using Friends Reunited) he got back together with his childhood friend, Tom Heinersdorff, to form 21st Century Gallery Ltd and design and set up this online art business, the Room4Art.com™.

John's great strength is in finding interesting art painted by highly skilled but often forgotten lesser-known artists that is available for us to sell on without having to ask the kind of prices that make people prefer posters! He would be the first to admit that his computer skills come a poor second to his broad knowledge of art and that his strengths lie in the visual aspects of this web site and not how it's put together!

Having been an art dealer for 30 years, John is enjoying the new challenges presented by online dealing where contact is by e-mail rather than in person. He is sure that regular clients will come to enjoy the varied and ever changing quality stock exhibited at Room4Art.com™ and that good business associations can be formed without necessarily ever meeting.

Every picture John chooses to display on Room4Art.com™ will be of a high quality and standard. The artists whose works are featured have been professionally trained, an important point as one elderly art dealer in Bond Street pointed out to John many years ago when he asked him "would you go to a dentist who hadn't been to dental school?"!

 

Tom Heinersdorff, on the other hand, realising that only people who have invested a lot of time and money in talking about, looking at and buying art will even know what a "slip" is, has focused on trying to make this web site the easiest possible to use for everybody. Tom differs from John, in that he has more art in the blood than in his experience. Both Tom and John want it to be possible for visitors to our site, to our shop, to be so sure of what they see that they don't hesitate to look for what they want and feel they can buy with confidence. And that without having to feel inferior under the arrogant gaze of an art expert or the pushy helpfulness of a gallery owner.

And both of us want the visitor experience to be better than it could ever be at an art gallery. Try zooming in on the brushstrokes or on the signature on the paintings -- you will see them more clearly photographed than in real life.
And if you try asking a gallery owner to show you one new painting every 10 seconds, we think he will run out of energy and paintings long before our site does.
And actually, if you ask that same gallery owner to show you all paintings smaller than 20 cm showing a dog, or all watercolour landscapes that are predominantly blue it might take him more than a few seconds to show them to you.

We hope that we offer an experience that is different from that of visiting an art gallery, and for many who perhaps have not often visited galleries, a better one. So that everybody can find Room for Art through the Room4art.com™ repository of art.

Room4Art.com™ is an online business and we prefer to correspond by e-mail. This allows us to move around the world more freely, seeking out works of art which we hope you will want to buy.
