Glossary: Wax Resist

This is a technique used in watercolour and printing to block out wholly or partly passages of a painting. The wax resist is applied and then paint or ink is added afterwards. Where the wax is at it's heaviest, no paint or ink will stick. Where there is a lighter application, some paint will adhere giving a very individual appearance.
