Glossary: The Scottish Highlands
For many centuries the Scottish Highlands have been an inspiration for artists wishing to capture the grandeur and changing moods of its rugged beauty.
From the 18th century onwards artists have been drawn there, painters like Alexander Nasmyth through to the Glasgow boys and the Colourists such as Cadell and Peploe. In the last century James Mackintosh Patrick made his name capturing the splendour of the area as did Barbara Lady Brassey. We have a fine collection of her paintings for sale including views of Red deer and the magnificent mountain scenery of Scotland
