Glossary: EtchingAn Intaglio technique. The surface of the metal is coated with an acid resistant varnish. The artist then creates an image by scraping away areas of the varnish . The plate is then dipped in acid and the exposed areas are eroded. This process is carried out on several occasions with the artist taking a "pull" from the plate each time. These early pulls are called "states". At Room4art™ we always have a selection of etchings at affordable prices which can be viewed here |
