Glossary: Euston Road

This modern British school of painting developed as a reaction against avant-garde painting and the loss of form and detail. There is a strong band of realism about the groups works with an emphasis on traditional subjects and a social conscience. The group formed in the late 1930's around Sir William Coldstream and included such luminaries as Victor Pasmore and Claude Rogers.
