Glossary: Faux naive
The works of trained artists who attempt to paint in a naive style while retaining their tutored manner. Christopher Wood (see "Naive painting and Alfred Wallis") embraced this form of art in the 1920's before he fell under a train and was killed in 1930.
By the way, we apologise for the computerised misspelling of the word "naive" -- it should of course be spelt with a dieresis over the "i" to indicate separate vowel pronunciation and distinguish the word from part of a church, but the computer language we are using does not permit this. I won't dig myself a deeper hole by attempting to explain the use of the feminine form "naive" rather than the masculine "naif".
