Glossary: PaletteThe palette frees the artist from the chore of opening different tubes of paint while working. It also gives him a surface on which to mix his colours. The palette is vaguely oval in shape with a chamfered hole through which the artist pushes his thumb, allowing him to work and carry his paint without any restriction. To confuse the matter an "artists palette" can refer to the range of colours he uses. |
