Glossary: Photography

The word photography comes from the Greek photos and graphos meaning "writing with light". In the early years of the 19th century, Louis Daguerre and William Henry Fox Talbot independently succeeded in producing photographs. From there the process developed culminating in the use of the modern day digital camera, an invention that makes this web site possible.
