Blonde barmaid and another dark haired female This is a fabulous study of two females, one of which the artist tells us is a barmaid. It is in essence a portrait of the girl in white with the background being a secondary subject. We are nevertheless drawn into the painting to try and observe just what the other girl is doing. The object of the painters eye is the barmaid who is looking directly out of the scene, conveying all the subjective emotions which grab our attention. This is the impetus for a highly charged 20th century expressionist painting.
