Interior view of Conway bottling store in Cleethorpes with 6 barrels of beer tapped for use Fine view of the interior of Conway bottling store. The picture was sketched out in pen and ink with watercolour detailing applied to accentuate shadows and light. Broad brush strokes and muted shades of blue wash have been applied with a dry brush to avoid merging at the margins. As the work has been stored in a portfolio for 60 years, we are reasonably sure that these are the original colours painted. On a note of interest, the barrel's have already been tapped indicating that the bottles were being filled directly from them, a practise no longer acceptable in our sterile age. eBay has often had bottles marked "Conway Bottlers" for sale. Painted while the artist was resident in Cleethorpes
