Owls watch women preparing food while a shepherd rests on his crook and a man brings logs to their snow covered shelter Lithograph printed in 3 colours on paper. The one dimensional nature of the image with a cut away section of the building is an interesting artistic tool, suggesting perhaps a secret glimpse of the life of the poor. Part of a suite of lithographs produced entitled "The seasons".

| About the artist
Born: 1920
Died: 2006
Cecile Osmond Smith was typical of the pre war generation of female artists. Assured and confident with an innate natural ability to capture a moment on paper. She was born in 1917 and studied at the Brighton College of Art from where she went on to teach art at various establishments. She was a member of the Oxford art society and the Oxford Printmakers Co-operative.
