A fallen log with fungi and new growth emerging from it

Fine impressionist oil paint with a hint of abstraction. The painting has been painted in a variety of subdued colours but where the artist wishes to emphasise the subject, he has introduced yellow and burnt umber to highlight focal point of the work. A very strong and dynamic work that is truly effective in its composition.

The picture is portraying the concept of rebirth with the old dead wood that has become corrupted and the new shoots emerging from beneath it.

About the artist

Born: 1920

Harry Walton is a true artist with a single minded approach to art and the exclusion of all else. He was self taught and exhibited widely in his native Leicestershire. He produced a series of 80 large scale paintings of the Holocaust that were shown at the Holocaust centre. His works are powerful and challenging.
