Corn stooks at Taylors lane Cleethorpes with trees and chicken sheds to the rear Fine English watercolour of a recently harvested field with corn stooks waiting to be gathered in. The picture is in watercolour painted on to damp paper to ensure maximum mixing of colour at the edges. The resulting colours produce a scene that is impressionist in nature with great atmospheric appeal. This method of harvesting disappeared after the last war and is a good historic record of a method of farming not seen these days. This work has been stored in a portfolio for over 50 years and we are confident that the colours portrayed are those which the artist painted
