A farm worker unloading a hay cart in a farm yard with haystacks Fabulous and evocative painting of a farm worker sitting on top of a hay cart. This picture is an extremely fine example of pure water colouring with just a hint of colour used to indicate figures or features. It has been produced on the spot or 'plein air' from nature, directly on to damp paper to allow blending of colours. He has started with the sky adding layers of more intense colour to produce a painting of great tonal variations. This painting has been stored for many years away from the light and retains the freshness of when it was executed. This work has been stored in a portfolio for over 50 years and we are confident that the colours portrayed are those which the artist painted
