A street scene in Hereford Very good quality watercolour of a junction of 2 streets in Hereford. This picture was first sketched in pencil and then washed over with watercolour, the detailing added by means of a thin brush and Indian ink, thinned to give tonal variations. The paint, applied rapidly using broad brush strokes allows the white paper to show where necessary, with the artist working from light to dark colours. Given that the work has been stored in a portfolio for 60 years, we are reasonably sure that these are the original colours painted by Noel Brannan. Regrettably, the old street lamps will be long gone but hopefully the location is identifiable.
