Louth canal and towpath - 2 boats on the canal with warehousing and spired church Magnificent watercolour of Louth and it's canal. This watercolour was painted on the spot from nature using thinned washes to give light tones and subtleness. On top of this has been added some darker paint to accentuate the shadowing on the buildings and over this an outline of black Indian ink to give shape and form to the composition. It really is worth putting the zoom over the boat passing under the bridge to see the artist's skill in producing figure studies from the tiniest blobs of paint! This work has been stored in a portfolio for over 50 years and we are confident that the colours portrayed are those which the artist painted
