A derelict windmill in the vale of Trent with ancillary buildings and trees Beautiful watercolour of a derelict windmill standing in a flat plain with ancillary houses and buildings. This painting is an extremely fine example of pure water colouring. It has been produced on the spot or 'plein air' from nature. The artist has painted watercolour directly on to the paper using a wet solution of paint. He has started with the sky adding layers of more intense colour to produce a painting of great tonal variations. By using a wet technique he has allowed the colours to run at the margins and blend in the surrounding areas. This is very noticeable if you run the zoom across the trees and the standing stone. Maybe you can identify this or the windmill. The painting is nearly 90 years old so it may have been demolished or more hopefully, restored. Over to you.
