A view of a factory tower at Nailsworth colliery with two conveyor belts leading into and from it A splendidly painted scene with muted tones that capture the mood of a colliery. The blues and greys echo the coal piles and add dignity to the scene. This is a great example of expressionist painting where the artist is conveying his emotions as opposed to a realistic portrayal of the scene. The painting is based on his subjective feelings and impulses that give weight to the composition.
