A sympathetic black and white portrait of Marilyn Monroe

A fine and sympathetic portrait of Marilyn. Here Harry Walton shows the true nature of the person and displays her as a woman rather than a tragic figure. The shadows create a wonderful feeling and accentuate her beauty. We are shown a very sensual figure, but also one of many fantasies. Harry was very taken with her as a character and painted her portrait several times in the early 1960's.

About the artist

Born: 1920

Harry Walton is a true artist with a single minded approach to art and the exclusion of all else. He was self taught and exhibited widely in his native Leicestershire. He produced a series of 80 large scale paintings of the Holocaust that were shown at the Holocaust centre. His works are powerful and challenging.
