A semi draped nude wearing a red and white stone necklace lies on a yellow and green striped daybed in front of a screen
A homage to Matisse by the renowned potter and painter Derek Davies. This painting recognises Matisse's early formative period before he had reduced his paintings to the bare minimum of line. This odalisque was painted in the 1950 in wonderful luminescent colours that assail the visual senses. A magnificent painting.
The original Odalisque was painted in 1840 by Ingres. It has been transformed and copied by many of the worlds master painters over the years.
