2 men and women wearing clothes with the typical hairstyle of the period drink Bass beer around a late 1940s pub table The finely observed narrative painting by Noel Brannan. The picture has an austere quality redolent of the late 1940s. This was a time in Britain when money was really very short. Rationing was still in force applying to food and clothing. still, it looks a dry old evening with only one glass of beer between 4 people. May be it was somebody's round and they forgot to get the drinks in. All in all a very evocative piece of work. can sleep in
