A really lovely line drawing in pencil. Joy Griffiths commented on this work by saying that she started at the knee and worked around the body in one flowing line without ever removing the pencil. A tour de force.

This picture was painted during Joy and her Husband Hugh's sabbatical away from the pressures of teaching art. A lovely impressionist study of a seated nude

About the artist

Born: 1918

Joy studied at the Royal college of art. She went on to teach at Hastings school of art where she met her husband. She exhibited at the Royal Academy and most other major institutions. She was married to the artist Hugh Griffiths.
