A mother with parasol and wearing a long dress and broad brimmed hat walks down a street with a child Very well observed scene of a mother and child walking down a lane in a village The work was produced from an incised copper plate that has been inked and printed in a press. The work is full of richly observed detail accentuated by hatching and the use of tonal variations to indicate shadows, perfectly captured in this picture. A lovely etching of an historic scene. The work is signed in pencil beneath the plate mark.

| About the artist
Born: 1888
Died: 1964
Brannan was a wonderful draughtsman who sketched his native Lincolnshire. He studied at the Lincoln School of art and was a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy. His work is in the Usher Gallery in Lincoln and many private collections. His two sons Noel, and Peter were both professional painters.
