Farm buildings under thatched roofs with an open wooden door and cart track The painting has buildings crowded into a small space creating a dramatic scene yet being calm and tranquil with no signs of life. A splendid picture. Note the outlining of the stones on the side of the building. The paint was applied to a dampened paper to allow the watercolour to run and mix giving a less hard edge to the margins.
