The Young Fox Inn on the corner of Skittle Alley Super quality watercolour of the Young Fox Inn at Skittle Alley in Bath. It is a lovely watercolour painted in muted shades of washes. The picture was sketched out in pencil and then painted over with watercolour. The paint has been applied rapidly using broad brush strokes but not allowing to much wetness thereby reducing the merging at the margins where colours meet. If you study the picture using the zoom facility, you will be able to see how the artist has worked from light to dark and used the underlying paper colour to represent the white areas. Given that the work has been stored in a portfolio for 60 years, we are reasonably sure that these are the original colours painted by Noel Brannan. George's Bristol beers sadly no longer exist, the company having been taken over by Courage in the 20th C, and we are uncertain if the pub is still a going concern, so if you have any knowledge, please contact room4art. Painted while the artist was resident in Bath
