A windmill and miller's house in an extensive landscape Fine etching of a lovely windmill in a high position overlooking a shallow valley. This picture was produced on the spot from a prepared copper plate that was etched and taken back to the studio for printing. We would refer you to the Glossary for a detailed description of the process of etching. It's a very fine but simple linear etching with an economy of single strokes of the etchers burin to indicate the sky and the horizon. The work is monogrammed in the plate and has full margins.

| About the artist
Born: 1888
Died: 1964
Brannan was a wonderful draughtsman who sketched his native Lincolnshire. He studied at the Lincoln School of art and was a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy. His work is in the Usher Gallery in Lincoln and many private collections. His two sons Noel, and Peter were both professional painters.
