How we work

What we do
The Room4art.com™ is an internet-only business selling high-quality original paintings, drawings and prints from the 18th Century to the present day. We sell to private purchasers, art galleries, interior designers and corporate bodies throughout the world. We own or handle on behalf of artists or their families all paintings displayed on the Room4art.com™.

What we would like you to do
Find a picture that you like in the Room4art.com™, either by browsing all our art in our EasyView facility
here or by searching here using keywords for what aspects of the picture matter to you. Then choose the frame that you feel suits both the picture and the room in which you intend to hang it, click on "Add to Basket" to send the defined item for payment, and finally pay for it by debit or credit card.

How we charge
The price of each work includes framing and glazing (where necessary). The framing is carried out by professional framers with over 20 years experience to the standards laid down by the Fine Art Trade Guild (if a frame is not required this will not affect the cost of the painting). The price includes shipping within mainland UK. Paintings delivered outside mainland UK will carry an extra charge according to destination - we will contact you to notify you.

How we take payment
As we are an online business we transact our business by debit or credit card, which is intended to be a way of protecting both you, the buyer, and us. We prefer that you pay using your Debit Card rather than a Credit Card (because on a painting costing £500 we are charged approximately £10 pounds on a credit card transaction but less than £0.50p for a debit card transaction, while the cost to you is the same). So that we never have to handle your confidential card data, we transact through our partner
ProtX who supply a safe and secure verification that we are dealing with the genuine cardholder, using Verified-by-Visa and Mastercard SecureCode
We will not ordinarily accept payment other than by card, though in unusual circumstances we may accept payment by cheque or Postal Order to our address (please contact us
here for the correct postal address to use).
Some high value paintings may require a telephone call by us to confirm a purchase so as to protect both you the buyer and Room4art.com™.
If an exceptional delivery needs to be made to other than the cardholder billing address, then we will require payment by cleared funds before dispatching the framed picture. In this case we will need telephone contact to agree payment means and to advise of timings and any further aspects. 


Additional safeguards we offer
Every picture at Room4art.com™ is sold with perfect title and provenance (where known). The authenticity of every item is guaranteed by us. If any dispute arises then this will be settled by professional appraisal and arbitration (e.g.
Christie’s).
Every picture is subject to a 15 day no quibble return with full refund if the purchaser is not entirely satisfied with it.

Delivery
Within mainland UK, we aim to deliver your framed picture 5 working days after you place your order. Your order will be carefully packed, bubble-wrapped in a special carton, and sent from our framing workshop to your address by courrier. To protect both of us, that delivery address must be the billing address of the card used to pay for the picture.

Returns and refunds
If the picture or frame is damaged in any way in transit then this must be notified to the carrier at the moment of delivery. Depending on which carrier we use, either
1. the carrier will return the damaged item to us or
2. you will need to follow our
return and refund instructions here.
The picture has to be returned at the buyer’s expense in the packaging in which it was delivered and by carrier. If it is not sent this way and the picture or frame is damaged then the cost of restoration will be deducted from the refund. We do also reserve the right to retain a charge of £50 for the frame and the labour cost for its manufacturing and fitting for you. We may deduct all these charges from the refund.

As we are buying and sourcing new works of art all the time, you may wish to take advantage of our email service to contact you if we acquire pictures by artist’s or subject matter that interest you specifically.
